Halloween Night in AZ

Well it is Halloween night in Arizona. At least it is not the Northeast tonight. The temperature is a balmy 80 degrees. I don't give out candy on Halloween night. Call me a Scrouge but I find it annoying.

I vaguely remember trick-or-treating in Yuma, Arizona. Yes, I was the typical ballerina, princess, hobo, and I don't remember what else. Since I was the oldest, generally, I was in charge of my brothers and sisters when we went trick-or-treating. Although, I did get candy I had to make sure everyone stayed together, be careful crossing the street, adjust masks and costumes, carry the candy bags when they got to heavy, and who knows what other responsibilities I had. My sister who is the second-born when she was old enough she could go trick-or-treating with her friend and I swear on Halloween one year she came home with three grocery bags full of candy.

Now days I just bask in nostalgia, wear my Happy Halloween t-shirt for a week, and keep the lights off on Halloween.

Well, it has been a while since I last posted. Believe me, I think about it often but I just don't get around to doing it. Today, I have a great story to share. It was article in the Arizona Republic newspaper. This is a classic experience in the desert facing native animals in their habitat.

Wow! It is hard to believe it has been more than a week since my last post. I did go to the Waste Management Phoenix Open last Saturday. It was a beautiful day, especially since the pro ams were cancelled and the tee off times were pushed back due to frost on the grass. On Saturday when I got there the second half of the second round threesomes were just teeing off. We walked from the first hole to the seventh hole to catch Phil Mickelson and then started walking to the infamous 16th hole. We had Sky Box tickets from a vendor that my friend buys their equipment. The free food and drinks were nice to not to have to pay for them. But the real enjoyment was being in the 16th hole atmosphere. It was definitely very entertaining!.

On Sunday, of course, was the Super Bowl. I did work at the ASU Women's Gymnastic meet in the early afternoon. That was my first time working at a collegiate gymnastic meet, especially since I was on my high school gymnastic team and I coached a high school gymnastic team for a year. The work was not rocket science since it involved flipping the numbers to show the score of the gymnast to the judge at the opposite side of the competition area.

The Super Bowl was fine. I was surprised that the Steeler's never tied or scored more than the Packer's at some point in the game. I did not support either team. The rest of the Super Bowl hoopla was ok. I do not know the National Anthem well enough to know for sure that Christina Aguilera sang the words wrong, the Black Eyed Peas were ok but I knew the sound system did them no justice, and the commercials were ok - some funnier than others. I did eat way too much.

This weekend I am driving to Yuma for a family event. Yuma is my hometown. I will especially pay attention to this drive that I have done for years. A lot of it is still the same - vast empty space - but many of the small communities have grown somewhat. There are a number of areas that I enjoy the scenery because I know that man could not be brilliant enough to make the desert look spectacular. It is at these moments that I know grandeur of God's creation.

Phoenix Open Week

Hey, I know it has been a while since I have posted on blog the but I am going to do this more often since I have taken a workshop on how to be more relevant on Google search.

It is one of those rare days that is is overcast and predicted to rain through out the day. The Phoenix Open starts this week and it is going to be another cold, maybe bitter cold a few days, but not rainy at the end of the week, for the tournament.

I am anticipating on being their on Friday and Saturday. I really enjoy going to the tournament for the golf -yes, I do watch the golfing; and people watching. Believe me, there is a lot of people watching to be done. It can be from the inebriated fans who can careless about the golf, young women there to show their "wares" in hopes of catching the attention of a successful man, to true-blue golf fans with the folding stools and binoculars.

But back to today, I can hardly believe we have all ready experienced the first 31 days of 2011. I do not like to say how fast time goes by but it does seem like it was the week before that I was "ringing in the New Year." I have done quite a bit with the new business but by no means as much as I would have liked to accomplished.

There is much to anticipate with the upcoming month, February, but that will be future posts. There will be Spring Training, Arabian Horse Show, the Renaissance Festival, Art Festivals, the Chocolate Faire, Mardi Gras, car racing - NHRA & NASCAR, just to name a few.
